What does your BRA have in common with dermal facial fillers?

Posted in Beauti-Med Makeovers

Just as a good bra can give your “girls” a lift, dermal fillers (strategically placed) can lift facial areas affected by gravity. As we age, the support system in our skin (elastin and collagen) diminishes, causing our face to sag. Volume loss comes first followed by lines and wrinkles.

What we lose with age

1) Fat: Skin loses the “plump” healthy skin of youth

2) Elasticity: The support system that keeps our features “taut” diminishes; leading to sagging, fine lines, and wrinkles

How can we reverse wrinkles and sagging skin?

Dr. Curry uses dermal fillers to literally “fill in” wrinkles, hollows or depressions in the skin. Carefully placed dermal filler can also lift sagging skin. For example, in the attached photo, dermal filler was used in the hollows along the jawline to reverse the look of jowls and drooping.

Are there other options?

Other procedures will tighten the skin (Thermage, SkinTyte) and are wonderful options providing that you still have some “plumpness” to your skin tissue. Once your skin has thinned, however, dermal fillers are your best non-surgical option. Other anti-aging measures can be used in combination with dermal fillers such as Botox or Thermage as part of a combination therapy.

Are dermal fillers safe?

Yes! We only use fillers that are FDA approved for effectiveness and safety. Many are comprised of Hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance that is already present in your body. Other fillers also result in your OWN skin producing more collagen over time; causing it to behave younger, for a longer-lasting effect.

“Juvederm, Voluma, Modelis, Radiesse and Sculptra are among our most popular options.”
