How does ThermaScan Work?

Posted in Beauti-Med Makeovers

Hundreds of thousands of people across America struggle to cover up acne and acne scars every day. But even after spending small fortunes on expensive makeup and at-home treatments, most people are disappointed to find out that very few of these provide a sufficient solution to acne scaring.

Before & After ThermaScan

What if there was a long-term way to eliminate acne and scarring for good? In the past year or so, a number of people have been citing ThermaScan as that very solution.

If you’re wondering, “What exactly is ThermaScan, and how does it work?” Luckily, we’re here to answer those questions!

What is ThermaScan?

ThermaScan is a type of non-invasive laser technology. In fact, it’s so non-invasive that it’s come to be referred to as a “Lunchtime laser treatment,” since it requires virtually no recovery time, unlike some other treatments and peels.

ThermaScan repairs skin from the inside out and can be used in a variety of ways from photo-rejuvenation, to the repair of both existing acne and acne scars.

How does ThermaScan work?

ThermaScan treatments pulse energy at a 1319 wavelength. This allows for the gentle and controlled heating of the lower layers of the skin. Thanks to the duration of pulsing, the heated region is limited to a very thin and uniform layer which is why the recovery time is virtually non-existent.

ThermaScan uses LAPG (Large Area Pattern Generator) for extra precision. According to the ThermaScan manufacturer Sciton’s website, an LAPG is a “Computer-guided high speed scanner that provides precise placement of each spot in a non-sequential pattern to prevent excessive heat build-up promoting thermal relaxation time between pulses. In addition, the advanced robotic scanning offers smooth operation, faster treatments, and 100% coverage.

In layman’s terms, LAPGs are the technical part that prevent lasers from damaging your skin by disallowing it to overheat.

ThermaScan and Acne Scars

Acne scars are depressions in the skin caused by deep pimples that permanently damage the epidermis. A ThermaScan is able to specifically target these scars, stimulating and promoting the release of collagen. This type of collagen remodeling via ThermaScan is also effective in fine lines and wrinkles.

After a few ThermaScan treatments, most people notice their acne scars are almost invisible, leaving behind smooth and almost flawless skin!

ThermaScan and Active Acne

If you have active acne in addition to scarring, ThermaScan is one of your best options. It works by heating the sebaceous glands which exist in the dermis of the skin. Sebaceous glands are responsible for the release of excess oil, which blocks pores and ultimately leads to black heads and acne.

After ThermaScan is used to heat the sebaceous glands, most patients see a colossal improvement in their acne for up to six months.
